Welcome to Supply Chain Design! As scale and complexity of supply chains dramatically increase, companies need skills and capabilities for finding the most suitable configuration and coordination of their supply chain for confronting challenges in nowadays' marketplace. Supply Chain Design is an essential element for generating a sustainable competitive advantage and for allowing an effective planning and control of supply chains. This course is aimed at providing students with knowledge of the tools and instruments for configuring and coordinating supply chains. Supply Chain Practitioners need to understand the typical components of the design of a supply chain: the process and the network. They need to balance their focus on the sourcing and on the distribution side: they need to be able to interact with suppliers and to arrange activities for fulfilling customers’ demand.
